“Most of the debate following recent revelations of academic fraud at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has focused on the desire to keep athletes academically eligible to play. But half of the students who earned fraudulent grades through UNC’s “paper classes” were not athletes: They were students who struggled academically for a variety of other reasons. Concerns for struggling students never justify academic fraud.”
